S urrounded by nature, the Troia Peninsula has a seemingly endless coastline of sandy beaches and still offers pristine beauty despite the recent growth of hotels and resort areas.
Two thousand years ago this was an important Roman settlement, as revealed by the archaeological excavations and ruins nearby.
What also remain from the past are the dolphins which can often be seen in these waters in their natural habitat.
Located south of Lisbon, Troia has been turned into an upmarket destination with the Troia Design Hotel as a landmark.
There is also an 18-hole golf course designed by Robert Trent Jones.
GETTING THERE:
Troia is about one hour south of Lisbon (you'll need a car). It is reached through the highways A2 or A12, exiting in Alcácer do Sal followed by road EN5 in the direction of Grândola. Follow the signs to Comporta, and once there move in direction of Troia.
Alternatively, for a journey of about 40 minutes from Lisbon, exit to Setúbal on the A2 or A12 highways, and take the ferry boat.

COMO CHEGAR:
Tróia fica a cerca de uma hora a sul de Lisboa. Seguindo pelas autoestradas A2 ou A12, saia em Alcácer do Sal seguindo depois pela EN5 em direção a Grândola. Siga as indicações até Comporta, virando depois até Troia.
Em alternativa, para uma viagem de cerca de 40 minutos de Lisboa, saia em Setúbal nas autoestradas A2 ou A12, e apanhe o ferry boat.
