Pena Park shows a natural environment of rare beauty made even more remarkable by harmonious human intervention.
Pena Palace stands in the middle, overlooked by a bronze "warrior" statue standing on a rock, representing the king as guardian of the royal residence.
The palace can also be seen from Alto de Santa Catarina (Saint Catherine's Heights) a favorite spot of Queen Amelia, where she sat on a seat carved into the rock to admire her home (today it's where tourists snap their best photos of the palace).
The highest peak of the park is "Cruz Alta" ("High Cross"), marked by a cross. It too is a viewpoint overlooking the park and the palace, and you can even see the Atlantic in the horizon.

O parque da Pena mostra um ambiente natural de rara beleza que se tornou ainda mais deslumbrante com uma harmoniosa intervenção humana.
Encontra-se aqui o Palácio da Pena, que é observado pela estátua de um "guerreiro" no cimo de um penedo, representando o rei como protetor da sua residência.
O palácio também pode ser visto a partir do Alto de Santa Catarina, o local favorito da Rainha D. Amélia, que se sentava aqui no seu "trono" esculpido na pedra (hoje é onde os turistas conseguem as suas melhores fotos do palácio).
O pico mais alto do parque é na "Cruz Alta", um local marcado por uma cruz. É também um miradouro com vista para o parque e palácio até ao Atlântico no horizonte.
