Lisbon once had Europe's largest opera house, only to be completely destroyed by the earthquake of 1755 shortly after its inauguration.
A new one was built soon after that, with excellent acoustics and fine rococo decorations.
You'll see that it was inspired by Milan's La Scala outside, and by Naples' San Carlo Theatre inside where classic operas are presented throughout the year.
There is also a good restaurant with tables on the terrace, and outdoor concerts on some summer nights.

Esse foi claramente inspirado no teatro San Carlo de Nápoles, enquanto o exterior lembra o La Scala de Milão.
Óperas clássicas são apresentadas aqui durante o ano, e dispõe também de um bom restaurante com esplanada.
