IGREJA DE SANTO ANTÓNIO

Built on the site where St. Anthony was born, this 18th century church is dedicated to the saint, with his statue standing outside by the entrance.
Its façade combines the baroque and neoclassical styles, while the interior includes a modern tile panel depicting Pope John Paul II's visit in 1982.
Next to the church is a small museum with images and manuscripts about the life of the saint, who was known as a matchmaker.
On Saint Anthony's Day in June, mass weddings take place here and in the city's cathedral which stands behind the church.

Construída no local onde nasceu Santo António, esta igreja do século XVIII é dedicada ao santo, e uma estátua com a sua imagem pode ser vista em frente.
A fachada combina o barroco com o neoclássico, enquanto que o interior inclui um painel de azulejos contemporâneo ilustrando uma visita do Papa João Paulo II em 1982.
Ao lado da igreja está um pequeno museu com imagens e manuscritos sobre a vida do santo, conhecido como casamenteiro.
No Dia de Santo António em Junho, vários casais passam por aqui após a cerimónia de casamento que se realiza na Sé, situada atrás desta igreja.
