I went to the Olivier in Avenida da Liberdade and found the space to be quite beautiful. You can tell they aim to impress as soon as you enter, although the effect can also feel like it's trying too hard at that. That is confirmed with the food, which although good, is pretentious in a way where it seems that expensive ingredients are thrown together just to look gourmet for the nouveau riche. Despite the attempts at creativity, I found the food to be rather bland and the place overrated. There are plenty of other creative and original menus in the city but with more soul and less pretense. Despite everything, my experience at Olivier was positive and the service was good.
