As the European city to make the first cultural and trade contacts with much of Asia, Lisbon had to have a space dedicated to the art and culture of the Orient, explaining the role it played in it.
This museum opened in 2008 in a former warehouse and has an important collection of Indo-Portuguese pieces, Chinese ceramics, masks, paintings, and textiles. There are also Hindu and Buddhist pieces as part of the "Gods of Asia" collection donated by Kwok On, and a restaurant serving an Asian menu.
More than a museum, this is a cultural center also hosting special events and temporary exhibitions relating to the Far East.

Tendo sido a primeira cidade europeia a criar laços culturais e comerciais com grande parte da Ásia, é natural que Lisboa tenha um espaço dedicado à arte e cultura do Oriente, explicando o seu papel nesse canto do mundo.
Este museu abriu em 2008 num antigo armazém e apresenta uma importante coleção de peças indo-portuguesas, cerâmicas chinesas, máscaras, pinturas e têxteis. Existem ainda peças hindu e budistas que fazem parte da coleção "Deuses da Ásia" doadas por Kwok On.
No restaurante serve-se um menu asiático e, sendo este espaço muito mais que um museu, realizam-se também eventos especiais relacionados com o Oriente.
