The Chiado Museum is the National Contemporary Art Museum, presenting Portuguese art from 1850 to 1950.
The exhibition space is not very big (it's currently awaiting expansion), but it's a fine restoration of a former convent by French architect Jean-Michel Wilmotte.
The collection is shown in temporary thematic exhibitions, with the highlights being works by Columbano Bordalo Pinheiro, Amadeo de Souza-Cardoso, and Almada Negreiros, as well as a fine sculpture by Rodin.
The café on the terrace is a good choice for a light meal in the open air, even when you're not visiting the museum.

O Museu do Chiado é o Museu Nacional de Arte Contemporânea, apresentando arte portuguesa do período compreendido entre 1850 a 1950.
O espaço não é muito grande (aguarda a sua ampliação), mas é uma bela restauração de um antigo convento feita pelo arquiteto francês Jean-Michel Wilmotte.
A coleção é mostrada em exposições temporárias temáticas, fazendo parte dela obras emblemáticas de Columbano Bordalo Pinheiro, Amadeo de Souza-Cardoso e Almada Negreiros, assim como uma bela escultura de Rodin.
O café no terraço é uma boa opção para uma refeição ligeira ao ar livre, mesmo quando não está a visitar o museu.
