Lisbon's Design and Fashion Museum opened in 2009 after a previous incarnation as the Design Museum in Belém Cultural Center between 1999 and 2006. It showcases innovative design and fashion pieces from the 20th century to the present, a collection put together by Portuguese businessman Francico Capelo.
The major international design names (Charles & Ray Eames, Le Corbusier, Droog Design...) are represented next to the top fashion designers (Yves Saint Laurent, Christian Dior, Vivienne Westwood, Versace...), and placed in a building formerly occupied by a bank.
The space hasn't yet been renovated, and the museum will only be fully open in 2013. In the meantime there are temporary exhibitions and displays of selected pieces of the permanent collection.

O Museu de Design e Moda abriu as portas em 2009 depois de ter existido como Museu do Design no Centro Cultural de Belém desde 1999 até 2006. Neste novo local (uma antiga instituição bancária) apresenta uma coleção de moda juntamente com a de design, peças do século XX até ao presente colecionadas pelo economista Francisco Capelo.
Assim, os grandes nomes do design (Charles & Ray Eames, Le Corbusier, Droog Design...) estão representados ao lado dos maiores estilistas internacionais (Yves Saint Laurent, Christian Dior, Vivienne Westwood, Versace...).
O museu só estará completamente aberto nos finais de 2013, e por enquanto alberga exposições temporárias que incluem várias peças da coleção permanente.
